With empathy at our core, Perfected Claims serves as a conduit between people impacted by injury or catastrophe and the law firms that aim to give them a voice. We are currently seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team at our Pasadena, CA office.

The Human Resources Generalist is primarily responsible for HR compliance for our California employees, ensuring adherence to all state and local employment laws. As the primary California compliance lead, this role will maintain policies, oversee regulatory requirements, and mitigate risk. The HR Generalist will additionally support a range of HR functions across the organization, including policy implementation, employee relations, and day-to-day HR operations. This position requires a high level of discretion and confidentiality, as it involves handling sensitive information related to management strategies, investigations, and grievances. Working closely with both employees and leadership, the HR Generalist will help drive effective HR solutions and foster a positive workplace culture.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary point of contact for California employee inquiries regarding HRIS, time and attendance, payroll, HR policies, general HR inquiries, conflict resolution, benefits and learning and development programs.
  • Ensure all HR practices comply with California state labor laws and federal regulations. Remain up to date on any changes that may affect HR policies and procedures.
  • Interpret and apply state and federal labor laws and company policies to management and employees.
  • Administer human resources policies, programs, and procedures to support employees; provide hands-on support to employees and managers to better understand and utilize HR policies, procedures, tools, and resources; and assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Develop, recommend, and communicate HR policies, procedures, programs, and services.
  • Partner with and serve as a resource to employees, management, and HR team to promote and maintain positive employee relations.
  • Provides guidance and advice addressing issues that pertain to engagement, performance management, employee relations, training, and other areas of Human Resources.
  • Administers leave of absences, including but not limited to CFRA and ADA.
  • Conduct benefits reconciliations and assist with open enrollment activities.
  • Assist with the recruitment process, including posting jobs, screening resumes, conducting and coordinating interviews, and onboarding new employees.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and handle sensitive employee relations matters.
  • Conduct routine comprehensive HR and payroll audits.
  • Participate in Health and Safety meetings, championing a safe and supportive work environment.
  • Assist with employee life cycle from recruitment to offboarding.
  • Perform other duties as required/assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an HR generalist  role in California; experience supporting multi-state locations preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of California state labor laws and federal regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment and benefits laws and regulations, HR best practices, and payroll.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite (especially, Excel); data analysis, forms creation, and presentation experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to develop and strengthen relations at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to respond to employee needs, solicit feedback to improve service, and handle difficult or emotional situations promptly and accurately.
  • Must exhibit sound judgment and discretion, and the ability to demonstrate a high degree of trustworthiness in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong team player and track record of developing and maintaining strong, trusting relationships with clients at all levels of the organization.
  • PHRca certification from HRCI and/or SHRM California Employment Law Micro-Credential strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Occasional need to lift at least 20 pounds.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Frequent need for oral, written, and auditory communication.
  • Frequent repetitive hand and wrist motions.
  • Occasional need for travel.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and sometimes stressful services environment.

Salary Range: $75,000-$95,000 per year
